G. Michael Ashmore has over 20 years' experience in both technology and change management, he is an expert in marshaling business and technological resources to achieve breakthrough business results. Previously Mr. Ashmore was the founder and Managing Director of i-One Consulting, an innovative management consulting firm that helps its clients tackle large and complex business change through the application and management of information technology (now a part of TechNexxus). He is widely regarded for his formative work in determining and realizing the business value of information technology.
Mr. Ashmore was Director, Information Management, with Arthur D. Little (ADL). In his role at ADL, he was responsible for the development and delivery of the North American Management Consulting information technology (IT) strategy services, including IT-enabled business strategy, aligning business and IT strategies, and IS transformation (i.e., optimizing the business value contribution of IT). His work entailed integrating ADL's multi-disciplinary expertise in strategy, operations management, organizational change and learning, and IT to deliver innovative solutions and high value results to the firm's clients.
Prior to joining ADL, Mike was President of Tradewinds Consulting and a founder and Managing Director of Tradewinds. Tradewinds specialized in the application and management of information technology (IT) to create and enhance business value. In his role as Managing Director, Mike assisted the firm's clients with the formulation and implementation of IT-enabled business processes and with the fundamental transformation of their information services functions. In conducting these engagements, he pioneered a number of IS and IT management approaches and techniques, including the IT Value Equation©, Information Services (IS) organization design, and IS Transformation©.
Previously, Mr. Ashmore held management and practice leadership positions at several highly regarded management consulting firms. He served as vice president of consulting for The Concours Group, an IT management, research and advisory consultancy. He was Vice President and global practice leader for the information technology services of CSC Index, Inc., where he developed and managed Index's Information Services Transformation service and participated in numerous business reengineering engagements. At Mercer Management Consulting he was Vice President and directed the firm's Information Management and Systems group. He was also Vice President at Index Systems, where he developed Information Technology Consulting practice and organization. Earlier, Mike was the manager of financial programming for Medical Information Technology, Inc. and an engineer at Martin-Marietta Corporation, where he developed applications for simulating antiballistic missile flights and developing intercept strategies.
He has published numerous articles on IT management, and he is a widely known and respected speaker on IT's Contribution to Business Value, IS' Role in Business Reengineering, Information Services Transformation, World Class IS, IS Organization. He received his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
