Data Center Expertise
Minimize

Data centers are a core TechNexxus competency.  We love this work because it allows our cross-disciplinary strengths and extensive experience with every type of network and technology to really shine.  We have designed, sourced, planned, constructed, operated, supported, managed and optimized data centers in over a thousand projects.

Some of our consultants began their data center careers working in a "Glass House" tending to the care and feed of Big Blue iron for the military and then corporate America.  Other TechNexxus consultants cut their teeth at top schools and went straight to supercomputing, grid computing and other high performance computing initiatives.  No matter where our consultants start, they have all gained strong skills and experience solving the new challenges facing every data center today, including electricity pricing and pricing structures, thermodynamics, airflow, virtualization, support desk and systems, trouble - ticket integration, comparing facility and service pricing options on a level playing field, co-location agreements, master services agreements, facilities outsourcing agreements and data center outsourcing agreements.

TechNexxus has worked with several financial institutions, online trading companies and some of the largest sites on the Internet (e.g., eBay) to develop high-performance high-availability solutions (e.g., Uptime Institute Tier IV rated data centers); but, our skills, experiences and processes were equally usefull when working with several of the largest data center landlords to development network and technology management strategies for portfolios of Tier I, II and III facilities.

Construction and Real Estate Experience
Minimize

Construction - We have represented several of the largest construction and real estate companies around the world and have helped them to solve some of the world's most complex challenges. From portfolios of environmentally impaired properties, huge dams and other public works,  to large land acquisitions and construction contracting for the Defenders of Wildlife, TechNexxus has provided the sourcing expertise, leadership and resources necessary to get the job done on-time and on-budget.

We Build things using standardized repeatable processes...

Real Estate - Many TechNexxus consultants, and our founder David Baumann, started their careers in real estate and construction law and business well before anyone could make a career off anything involving technology or the environment alone.  This background in real estate and construction is the primary reason why our outsourcing legal forms (and the legal forms of our few peers at that time) were initially based on large NYC real estate transactions.  While the tools, forms and processes have been refined many times over the years, our primary mission remains the same in every transaction -- building value.

Every step of our process delivers value to our real estate and construction clients.  For example, our due diligence processes have uncovered substantial potential risks and liabilities, typically saving our construction and real estate clients millions. We have assisted the design, sourcing, development, operation and management of some of the largest construction projects globally.

Land Use and Planning.- TechNexxus land use and planning experience is an important asset, especially as environmental regulation of business activities increases.  TechNexxus consultants have extensive experience working with local governmental officials and local counsel to "get the job done."   In several cases, TechNexxus has managed teams of attorneys and consultants in almost 200 countries to complete the due diligence for and associated risk and value analysis to compete a large global transaction.  While real estate is "inherently local in nature" there are certain skills and standardized processes that bring substantially superior results every time.

Facilities Outsourcing
Minimize

TechNexxus was one of the first companies to structure a facilities management outsourcing transaction, and has designed, sourced, closed and managed hundreds of outsourcing transactions where facilities management was either the primary focus or an important element.  In each of these transactions, several key TechNexxus competencies  have proven to be critical time and time again:

  • Geolocation and siting
  • Understanding and comparing real estate markets
  • Sourcing of engineering, architectural and design services
  • Server consolidation and facilities space planning
  • Evaluation, comparison and negotiation of key "utility" contracts, especially:
    • Electricity
    • Telecommunications (a key TechNexxus competency and increasingly important as voice, video, data and the Internet converge
    • Gas
  • Supervision of power and availability planning
  • Benchmarking and metrics
  • Help desk and support system planning
