TechNexxus has developed some of the first, and some of the most advanced, management systems for use in the hotel and hospitality industry.  We applied the yield management knowledge and experience gained through our work on the first airline and car rental reservation systems to the Holidex system developed by Holiday Inns, and licensed to Moenpick, Hyatt, and many other hotel chains.

Our knowledge of franchise agreements and syndication in the context of real estate, automotive and securities gave us a great background for our initial work with hotel management agreement and franchise forms, rules and regulations.  Starting from this background, we have learned a lot about what makes hotels and hotel management agreements different.  We also understand how these relationships need to evolve over time (and here, it usually takes a bit of time to rationalize the franchise portfolio to enable nimble action and reaction -- but, the benefits are well worth it), and especially right now, to react to market realities and new technologies.

TechNexxus understands the hotel and hospitality industry from the ground up -- literally!  We have worked on large hotel chain real estate portfolios (acquisitions, divestitures and workouts) as well as hotel and hospitality procurement,  sourcing, outsourcing, reservation systems and management agreements.

What's the common thread?

There are a few common themes that run through all of these successful experiences.

1. Dirt - or more accurately, property (tangible and intangible).  The TechNexxus systems and processes are all designed to manage property, people and resources and they work as well for real property as they do for hardware, software, networks, business processes and intellectual property.  This is not as surprising as it may appear at first blush.  The "bundle of sticks" approach to property rights that was developed in feudal England has been used as the basis for real and intellectual property legal frameworks (statutory and contractual) around-the-world.  We understand property and facilities management agreements and how to development rationalized franchise and dealer agreement portfolios that will give you the business flexibility you need while fostering franchisee incentives and compliance with management standards.

2.  Supply Chain, Inventory and Yield Management Expertise (See sidebar).  TechNexxus has applied its state-of-the-art optimization algorithms, tools and techniques to the hotel and hospitality industry with great success.  In fact, our early work on the Holidex, PARS and Sabre systems formed the basis of many of the tools and techniques we still use today (albeit, each has evolved tremendously over the past 15 years). 

A supply chain can't be any stronger than its weakest link...

In the hospitality industry, a supply chain simply can't be any stronger than its weakest link.  That's why TechNexxus has been so successful developing value by identifying the weak points in the supply chain, and determining whether it makes more sense to strengthen the link, or to shorten the chain.

 The Challenges of the Hotel and Hospitality Industry

Trying to drive and maintain competitive advantage in the hotel and hospitality industry is often challenging.  There is a constant tension between the need to invest strategically with the need to be cost - consious on goods and services that can be managed as commodities.  TechNexxus fully understands the difference between commodity procurement and strategic sourcing as applied to the hotel and hospitality industry.

We worked with TechNexxus on a number of hotel and hospitality project (inlcuding the Inn at Perry Cabin) and got fantastic results. These guys really know how to deliver value.
